1. Introduction to New Energy
The definition of the new energy industry can be divided into broad and narrow senses. In a broad sense, new energy primarily achieves the effect of greenhouse gas emission reduction, encompassing the efficient and comprehensive utilization of energy and resources, as well as renewable energy, alternative energy, nuclear energy, and energy conservation.
2. Narrowly defined, new energy refers to the aggregate of energy sources excluding common conventional ones, primarily including wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, marine, small hydropower, and nuclear energy beyond large-scale hydropower. At present, China's utilization of wind, marine, small hydropower, and nuclear energy mainly focuses on power conversion, while solar, biomass, and geothermal energy should not only be converted into electricity but also developed for thermal and gas energy applications. Overall, new energy utilization primarily involves transforming various energy sources into electricity.
